I'm excited to share this photo of Francesco Sarli and his wife Rochetella "Lottie" Motta,
courtesy of their grandson. He believes that this was taken on the occasion of the wedding of their son, Egidio "George" Frank Sarli to Grace Fasano. Lottie appears to have a bag of rice with which to shower the newly-weds. In post #4 I posted Francesco's Declaration of Intention which includes his photo, and also a photo of him with his great-granddaughter in post #10.

Have you been wondering why you are seeing Sarlo's, Sarli's, and Di Sarlo's? When I am transcribing early records, the surname varies, even in numerous records for the same person. I have noticed that the earlier records seem to be consistently "Sarlo" or "Di Sarlo." But two generations after Saverio Sarlo seem to go by "Sarli." It is possible that certain branches of the family changed the Sarlo surname to Sarli to differentiate themselves.

I make it my policy to copy names as they are written in the record, but as long as I can prove a relationship, whether it is Sarlo, Sarli, or Di Sarlo, I'm happy.

I have been working a lot on finding the wives and children of Saverio Sarlo's & Geronima Bianco's children and grandchildren so that you can see the ties to more of the surnames in Laurenzana. As I find more information, I will add it.

MICHELE SARLO (1774-1828) Michele Sarlo was born 15 Sep 1774, in Laurenzana. He married Angelina Asselta, daughter of Giuseppegidio Asselta & Diodata Potenza, 13 June 1805. His 2nd wife was Dorotea Volino (1788-). Died 6 Oct 1828 in Laurenzana.
